The Burton Blog

The Art of the Long Weekend

If you don’t attack every long weekend like it’s the last vacation you’ll ever take, you’re doing it wrong.

Burton was founded on the idea that every moment outside of school or work is an opportunity to get outside and do something wild. We’ve spent the past 40+ years building products specifically designed for good times. This means that every time we pitch a tent and high five a friend we’re clocking in to work. Our job: to help you have more fun.

But this isn’t about us. This is about you, and your next long weekend. See, getting outside and engaging in the world isn’t just enjoyable – it’s what keeps us going. Sleep when you’re retired. For now, do what you love, and don’t let anything get in your way.

Sure, we can’t be free spirits all the time, but that’s the beauty of a long weekend: there’s time. Time to be a grown up (if you have to), and time to be a kid. Time to drive six hours to look at a big rock, or a new sunset. Time to cook a feast, round up some friends, build a bigger camp fire, learn a new game, fix the dirtbike, get a sunburn – and then there’s still time after that just to relax.

No matter what you get into, the goal should be to have such a good time that when you get into work or school on Monday, you’re too tired to even tell the story. If you need a little inspiration, head down to your local Burton Flagship to talk to some of our Burton Guides. Wherever you are, they’ll be ready to point you towards an adventure.

If your fire doesn't make you just a little nervous, it's probably not big enough. Just remember, only you can prevent forest fires.
