Built on Boards – Mark McMorris Trusts the Process

At Burton, we talk a lot about something we call the process.

That is, the process of taking a board from concept, to prototype, through intense testing and R&D at Craig’s, all the way to the final stamp of approval as one of the best boards in the world. Needless to say, we take it pretty seriously.

So, when we a designed a board that perfectly fit the needs of our more all-terrain freestyle-minded team riders, there was only one name to call it: The Process. Originally designed with everything from massive backcountry jumps to mellow corduroy laps in mind, The Process was built for taking an all-wheel-drive approach to freestyle. Limitless. Effortless. Everything. Kind of like Mark McMorris.

"It was the last board I tried when I signed with Burton,” Mark says, “and it felt the best. I haven’t changed it up since then. Backcountry, jumps, rails… It’s the perfect all-terrain board for me."

The Canadian phenom first turned heads with his deep bag of technical tricks. In 2011 he became the first person to land a backside triple cork 1440. The next year, he’d win not one, but two Winter X Games gold medals. He boasts three Burton U.S. Open championship titles. We could spend hours listing out his accomplishments, but the most interesting thing about Mark is that he’s not just defined by his contest runs. He’s made appearances riding everything from the park to the backcountry in numerous videos, including Burton Presents, and even in his own personal film project called In Motion.

High level riding calls for high performance hardware. It’s no surprise that Mark reached for The Process. It’s offered in two versions, one with the precise power of Camber, and the other with the more relaxed feel of Flying V™. It’s also packed with some of the best features we have to offer, like Squeezebox core profiling, which transfers energy towards the tip and tail for snappier ollies and improved stability, and Dualzone™ EGD™ core profiling that utilizes engineered wood grains for more edge hold, response and strength.

The fact that the core features 100% FSC™ certified wood and bio-based Super Sap® Epoxy is more than just a bonus. It’s a step in the right direction towards a more sustainable product – one that’s built to last, has a reduced carbon footprint, and doesn’t contribute to harmful deforestation practices.

That's why we're happy to advise: trust The Process.
