In Good Company: Get to Know Burton’s Newest Board

You know that old saying...

“You’re only as good as the company you keep?” We honestly can’t think of a truer statement when it comes to snowboarding. From the crew you’re lapping with to the board you’re lapping on, the best days are better when surrounded by precisely that—good company.

This season, we’re excited to introduce the aptly named Good Company—a classic twin with refined construction that’s catered toward a good time and built to last you a long time.

Who is the Good Company Designed For?

With its traditionally-cambered, true-twin silhouette, the Good Company pays homage to conventional designs of snowboarding’s history, while catering to modern-day, rip-everything-in-their-path riders. Freestyle in nature but demanding not to be categorized, the Good Company exemplifies the energy and style of a number of Burton Team riders. That’s why it’s become the go-to deck for the likes of Nora Beck, LJ Henriquez, Brian Rice, and Ylfa Rúnarsdóttir.

Whether it’s a mini-jib session with Ylfa, transition finding with Nora, or hot-lapping the park with LJ and Brian, or anywhere else you want to take it, the Good Company is a worthy companion.

The Good Company is my favorite right-down-the-line ATV. Basically, anywhere I take it I can expect it to get the job done.

How’d It Come to Be?

Snowboarding is fun. Period. And we wanted to develop a board that represents that mentality inside and out. From its lighthearted graphics (more on that next) to its timeless, tried-and-true design, the Good Company is our way of balancing out the poker-faced (pun intended?) boards that have become commonplace at Burton and beyond.

“A lot of our snowboards can seem a bit serious,” says Lesley Betts, Burton’s Senior Global Merchandiser. “We wanted to make something that was fun and cheeky; that allows us to inject some humor into the line. The Good Company is a reminder that snowboarding shouldn't be serious. Life is all about the company you keep.”

What’s Up With the Graphic?

Nothing beats a classic. And what’s more classic than C.M. Coolidge’s collection of Dogs Playing Poker paintings? The answer: probably nothing. Whether you first saw it at a local restaurant, hanging in a best friend’s basement, or even tossed one up in your college dorm room, the fact of the matter is this: Dogs Playing Poker is timeless.

When we set out to create the Good Company, that’s exactly the personality we wanted to encapsulate. Timeless specs designed for good days on the snow with your best friends. What better way to represent that energy than Coolidge’s 1903 Poker Sympathy painting?

Board Specs:

Like we said, nothing beats a classic. Whether you’re riding regular or switch, park or pow, The Good Company maintains a balanced and predictable ride with one thing in mind: snowboarding. Thanks to a true twin shape—meaning it’s perfectly symmetrical from tip to tail—you can spin and stomp with unrivaled stability no matter which foot is forward. Under those feet, a Camber Bend advocates powerful turns and poppy precision, offering snappy suspension and continuous edge control.

Whether you’re pressing into rails, rotating off jumps, or laying into carves, the Good Company is the company you want to keep.

Tech Specs:

Despite its conventional design, the Good Company doesn’t lack in the tech department. A Super Fly 800G Core alternates between hard and soft woods, resulting in a board loaded with pop while reducing overall weight. The Dualzone EGD engineered wood grain positioned along the toe and heel edges increases edgehold, response, and strength, while the Biax Fiberglass creates a jib-friendly, forgiving feel that’s optimal for everyone from beginner riders to advanced park rippers. The Sintered Base beneath ensures superior wax retention and high-end durability, while the Channel® Board Mount tops everything off by allowing you to dial in the perfect stance width and angles. Result? A predictable board in a proven profile that can adapt to any level rider and the spectrum of riding applications—all with a freestyle charisma.
