Protecting our Playground – Burton Takes Action for the Environment
It’s safe to say the activities and lifestyle we love take place in the great outdoors. And, more than ever, it’s important for Burton to take responsibility for the impact we have on the world, and make every effort to reduce our footprint. Burton aims for best-in-class standards, and is always looking for creative new ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Some of the biggest steps include factory audits that ensure all of our manufacturers meet today’s high standards, and working with organizations like bluesign® and the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC™) to manage the footprint our products leave behind. But that’s just the beginning.
Not only does the new Spring Summer 2017 line of Durable Goods feature bluesign® approved products, but we’re finding new ways to fight for the future. For example, 100% of the down insulation in Burton jackets and insulators is now responsibly sourced, ensuring every feather originates from ethically treated ducks and geese.
Additionally, we’ve re-engineered our packaging to save hundreds of thousands of pounds of paper across our product line. And we continue to work towards our ultimate goal of bringing all Burton softgoods to bluesign® approved status, making our product the safest and most environmentally responsible on the market. These steps take time, but we’re in this for the long haul.
